Texas Tech Softball Big 12 Tournament Central

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech softball heads to Oklahoma City, Okla., to face the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament on Friday, first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT. Oklahoma State swept the regular season series between the two schools in the regular season finale this past weekend in Stillwater. Texas Tech is 3-2 in its last five Big 12 Tournament games including a run all the way to the finals in 2007.

Eimen Leads The Red Raiders At The Plate
Senior Elizabeth Eimen leads the team batting .350 with 55 hits and four doubles. Eimen has set a new single-season record with 17 sacrifice hits, the previous record was 16 set by Jenny Kohler in 1999.

Drewry Gets It Done
Freshman Stephanie Drewry is right behind Eimen, batting .335 with 55 hits, five doubles, and a triple. Not only is Drewry solid at the plate, she is solid in right-field as well committing only three errors in 51 starts this season.

Tech has Enjoyed Big 12 Tournament Success In The Past
Texas Tech has had success at the Big 12 Tournament in recent years, advancing to the second round last year after an opening round victory over third-seeded Missouri. In 2007, Tech made a run all the way to the finals defeating No. 5 Baylor and No. 7 Texas A&M before losing to No. 2 Oklahoma. Texas Tech is 3-2 in its last five Big 12 Tournament games.

Hamada Hits First-Career Home Run
Freshman Ashley Hamada hit her first-career home run against Oklahoma State this past Saturday breaking up Anna Whiddons' no-hitter, tying the game at one run apiece in the sixth. Hamada is hitting .219 on the season with 21 hits and two doubles.

Scouting Oklahoma State
The Cowgirls finished the regular season 33-19 overall, and 8-10 in the Big 12 Conference. Oklahoma Sate swept Texas Tech last weekend to close out the regular season taking game one, 2-1, and winning game two, 8-0 (5). OSU is led by Maria Gearhart batting .350 with 55 hits and 12 RBIs, followed by Alysia Hamilton hitting .340 with 50 hits and 46 runs batted in. In the circle, the Cowgirls have two outstanding pitchers in Anna Whiddon and Sarah Odom. Whiddon has an 2.25 ERA and a record of 18-12, while Odom is 13-5 with an ERA of 2.43.
