OKLAHOMA CITY - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Big 12 Conference announced its All-Academic Softball Team today at the conference's pre-tournament banquet. Seniors Paula Workman and Tamara Harrington earned first team honors while Sandy Butler and Shauna Briggs, both juniors, were named to the second team.

Workman, an accounting major from Austin, was a third time honoree. She had been named to the squad in 1998 and 1999. Harrington, multidisciplinary studies major from Broken Arrow, Okla., is a first time selection to the first team.

Butler is a biology major from Tucson, Ariz. It is her first selection to the second team. She was an honorable mention selection to the academic team in 1999. Briggs is a political science major from Herald, Calif. It is also her first selection to the team.

To be named to the first team an athlete must maintain above a 3.2 GPA and be in their second year of academic residence while appearing in at least 50 percent of her teeam's games. The second team follows the same guidelines except the athlete must maintain between a 3.0 and 3.2 GPA.
