LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech softball team did not have to wait long to find out which regional they would be playing in this weekend in the NCAA Tournament. The Red Raiders were the second team announced in the 48-team field, and will take on Cal St.-Fullerton in Regional I in Tucson, Ariz., on Thursday afternoon at Hillenbrand Stadium.

Tech is joined in the regional by top-ranked and No. 1 seeded Arizona, who will face St. Peter's in Thursday's late game. Also traveling to Tucson for tournament play will be third-seeded Hawaii and fourth-seeded Southwest Texas State.

This marks Tech's second appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the last three years, as the Red Raiders finished second in Fresno, Calif., in 1999. Tech is also one of only three Big 12 schools to earn a bid into the NCAA's, joining Oklahoma and Nebraska.

Tech will practice Monday at 1 p.m. before departing Lubbock later in the week for the regional.
