LUBBOCK, Texas - Space still remains for area athletes to register for the Texas Tech softball camps that will run June 12-14 at Rocky Johnson Field.
The program will host both morning and afternoon sessions with instruction provided by members of the Tech coaching staff along with players from this season's NCAA Regional squad.
During the morning session, athletes ages 5-11 can participate in the "Little Red Raider Camp" that is designed to focus entirely on developing fundamentals at a young age with an emphasis on fielding, hitting, and throwing mechanics. The camp costs $125 and begins at 8 a.m. each day before ending at noon.
High school athletes, ages 12 and older, will get their turn in the afternoon session that focuses on instruction in every aspect of the game, including hitting, bunting, base running, pitching, catching as well as infield and outfield play. Campers will also be split into teams in order to scrimmage and improve their skills in game-like situations.
The High School All-Skills camp runs from 1-5 p.m. each day and costs $150 per athlete. All camps are held at Rocky Johnson Field, which is located just south of University Medical Center (UMC) on the Tech campus.
