LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech softball coach Shanon Hays announced the program's fall schedule Friday which features eight exhibition games at Rocky Johnson Field during the months of September and October.

Coming off their third-straight NCAA Regional appearance, the Red Raiders will open the fall Sept. 28 in the first of two games against Howard Junior College. Tech and the Hawks will also square off Oct. 5 in the third contest of the fall.

Tech will face Odessa College on Oct. 2 before the first of two games against cross-town Lubbock Christian University on Oct. 9. The Red Raiders and Chaps will also close the fall against each other on Oct. 16.

In between the LCU contests, Tech will battle West Texas A&M on Oct. 11 before facing Midland College in a doubleheader the following day. Both games are slated for late-afternoon starts with 6 p.m. and 5 p.m. first pitches.

The Red Raiders, who return 13 letterwinners from last season's 41-17 squad, begin team practices Sept. 17. The group of returners will join with an 11-player signing class, the largest in Hays' tenure, as Tech will look to replace a school-record eight seniors from a year ago.

All fall games will be played at Rocky Johnson Field and are open to the public with no admission charge.
