LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech softball program will open its fall slate Friday afternoon when the Red Raiders host Western Texas College in a 2:30 p.m. first pitch at Rocky Johnson Field.

"We've had a good couple weeks of practice but we're excited to play someone other than ourselves," fourth-year head coach Shanon Hays said. "We have several new faces this year and fall games like this will go a long way in our preparation for this spring."

The Red Raiders return 12 letterwinners from last season's 41-17 squad that advanced to the postseason for the third-straight season under Hays, who brought in 11 newcomers to the roster this fall.

The contest is the first of eight scheduled for the Red Raiders this fall. All fall games will be played at Rocky Johnson Field and are open to the public with no admission charge.
