LUBBOCK, Texas - After opening its fall season with a pair of victories, the Texas Tech softball program will look for similar success Tuesday afternoon when the Red Raiders host cross-town Lubbock Christian University in a 2:30 p.m. first pitch at Rocky Johnson Field.

The Red Raiders are coming off a 12-5 victory over Howard College last Friday afternoon to improve to 2-0 already. Tech began its fall slate with a 12-1 rout of Western Texas College on Sept. 28.

Mikey Kenney and Sandy James led Tech against Howard as the pair delivered early home runs, with Kenney connecting on a solo shot to open the first before James belted a grand slam to center an inning later.

Samantha Camello also went 4-for-5 at the plate with a RBI while Anne Binschus finished 2-for-2 with a RBI double in the fifth. Tech also used the majority of its pitching staff as Cara Custer, Brittany Talley, Gretchen Aucoin, and Tess McPherson all saw action in the circle.

Tech head coach Shanon Hays will see a familiar face in the opposing dugout as his brother, Daren Hays, is in his third season leading the Lady Chaps. Former Tech pitcher and graduate manager Ashly Jacobs is also assisting on the LCU coaching staff as well.

Lubbock Christian wrapped the 2012 season with a 56-8 overall record after advancing to the NAIA National Championship tournament where the Lady Chaps were eliminated in pool play.

The game is the first of four for Tech this week as the Red Raiders also host West Texas A&M on Thursday evening and Midland College in a Friday doubleheader. All exhibition games this fall will be held at Rocky Johnson Field and all fans will receive free admission.
