Red Raider Men and Women to Face Nationally-Ranked Opponents
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's and women's tennis teams will both be in action against nationally-ranked opponents this weekend in key Big 12 and non-conference matches in the Athletic Training Center.
The Tech women will face 38th-ranked Houston at 9 a.m. on Friday, while the men play 52nd-ranked Oklahoma State at 1:30 p.m. On Sunday, the women's entertain 37th-ranked Colorado at 9 a.m, while the men face 43rd-ranked Oklahoma at 1:30. On Saturday, the Houston women will play Colorado at 9 a.m. in the Athletic Training Center.
"This weekend should be an interesting one for both our men's and women's teams," said Tim Siegel, Texas Tech director of tennis. "There will be some really good tennis played in the Athletic Training Center with all six teams having national rankings. This is a great opportunity for tennis fans to get their fix of top-notch men's and women's college tennis."
The Texas Tech women are 5-7 on the season and 2-4 against Big 12 Conference competition. The Red Raider women entered the national rankings this week for the first time this season at number 72. The Texas Tech men are 4-7 on the year and 0-1 in the Big 12 following a disappointing 2-5 loss to Baylor on March 12. The Red Raider men are ranked 71st nationally.
