April 4, 1997 Texas Tech Men's and Women's Tennis Return to Big 12 ActionRed Raiders Women Host; Men Travel to Key Big 12 MatchesLUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's and women's tennis teams return to Big 12 action this weekend with the 60th-ranked women hosting Nebraska and Iowa State, while the men travel to 58th-ranked Texas A&M and 16th-ranked Texas. The Tech women (7-8 overall, 3-4 in the Big 12) host Nebraska Friday at 1:30 p.m. and Iowa State Sunday at 10 a.m. In the latest rankings, the Tech women are ranked 60th in the nation. The women's matches will be held at Lubbock Municipal Tennis Center. in case of inclement weather, they will be moved to the Athletic Training Center. The Tech men (8-9 overall, 1-2 in the Big 12) travel to Texas A&M for a Friday match against the 58th-ranked Aggies. The Tech men are ranked 64th in the latest national rankings. The Red Raiders travel to Austin on Sunday to face 16th-ranked Texas. The Tech men are coming off a consolation-bracket championship at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate Invitational Tennis Classic. "This weekend will tell both our men's and women's teams exactly where we are," Director of Tennis Tim Siefel said. "Both teams are coming off big non-conference wins. Hopefully we can translate that into conference victories."
