Red Raiders Blank West Texas A&M 9-0

LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech women's tennis team increased its all-time record against West Texas A&M to a perfect 10-0 with its 9-0 shutout Wednesday at the Texas Tech Athletic Training Center.

The Red Raiders (3-4 overall, 0-1 in the Big 12) dropped just seven games in the match, which lasted just over two hours. Texas Tech has won its last two dual matches at home, against Abilene Christian and West Texas A&M, by a combined total of 18-0. Tech has defeated West Texas A&M by a 81-3 margin since the first meeting between the two teams in 1979.

"We played pretty well today, but I thought we had a lot of room for improvement," said Mary Dailey, Tech assistant coach. "We played some people in some different positions and I think some of our kids are looking forward to our first Big 12 road match at Kansas State on March 1st. We have some time off before that Kansas State match. During that time, we will work to continue to get better and prepare for our first season in a really tough tennis conference in the Big 12."

Texas Tech's next match is scheduled for Saturday, March 1 at Kansas State. The Red Raiders don't play at home again until a March 15 meeting against Kansas.
