Texas Tech Women's Tennis Team Falls to Houston

LUBBOCK, Texas - The 38th-ranked University of Houston women's tennis team won two of three doubles matches to claim a tight 5-4 victory over Texas Tech today at the Athletic Training Center.

With the match tied at three-each after the singles matches, Houston's Jane Brown and Sarah Bolle won a decisive 8-2 match at the number three doubles position to clinch the victory. Tech's lone doubles win was a 9-7 victory by Eva Eguiguren and Amanda Earhart over Luciana Kelbert and Julie Stone at the number one position.

"We have got to play well as a team to beat quality teams like Houston," said Texas Tech assistant coach Mary Dailey. "All three of our doubles teams have to play well for us to have a legitimate chance to win. Today, that didn't happen."

Texas Tech drops to 5-8 on the season, while Houston improves to 10-3 overall.
