Irina is in her third season, first as an assistant coach for the Lady Raider tennis program. A native of Moscow, Russia, she was a four-year letterwinner for the Red and Black. She graduated from Tech in May 2006 with a masters degree in sports management.

She was ranked 87th in the nation her first year as she saw time at the No. 1 spot in both singles and doubles. She was named Academic All-Big 12 in 2003 and an ITA-Academic All-American in 2004. She was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year in 2001 and was an All-Big 12 Singles selection in 2002 and 2003 and an All-Big 12 Doubles selection with Beverly Dawson in 2002 and 2003.

In high school, she was a member of the team that won the European Team Championship in 1999 and led her team to the Russian Team Championship. Individually, she was a runner-up at the Russian Singles Championship.
