Lubbock, Texas - No. 61 Texas Tech women's tennis edged Kansas State, 4-3, in their conference opener in Lubbock, today.

In the doubles matches, Tara Browning and Lakann Wagley defeated Jessica Simosa and Katerina Kudlackova, 8-2, playing in the No. 1 spot. Katja Kovacic and Erin Hunter topped Olga Klimova and Fernanda DaValle, 8-5, playing at the No. 2 spot. At the No. 3 position, Cigdem Duru and Samantha van der Drift edged Tamar Kvaratskhelia and Maria Perevoschikova, 9-7.

In singles action, Browning played at the No. 1 spot and defeated Simosa, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. At the No. 2 spot, Kvaratskhelia defeated Duru, 7-6, 7-5. At the No. 3 spot, Janet Durham topped Kudlackova, 6-0, 6-2. At the No. 4 spot, van der Drift fell to Perevoschikova, 6-4, 6-4. Kovacic played at the No. 5 position and beat DaValle, 6-4, 6-2. At the No. 6 spot, Hunter edged Klimova, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3.

Next up for the Lady Raiders will be a match with UTEP, on Feb. 11, in Albuquerque, N.M.
