ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Texas Tech Red Raiders women's tennis team traveled to the University of New Mexico this weekend to compete in the Furr's Supermarkets Tennis Classic at the Lobo Tennis Club.

The women opened the tournament on Friday with a 6-3 win over Wyoming. Amanda Earhart posted wins in both the No. 1 seeded singles and doubles matches to pace Texas Tech. Sonnia Orellana and Noel Ruiz each clinched straight-set victories in singles play and the two teamed up for an 8-4 win over Shirley Mendoza and Sofia Espinosa in doubles play.

The Red Raiders were defeated on Saturday by the hosting New Mexico Lobos. Christen Emmett and Sonnia Orellana posted the only win for Texas Tech by outlasting Courtney Choate and Nicoleta Spilca, 9-8, in doubles action. However, UNM won the other two doubles matches to take the doubles point and swept the Raiders in singles play for a 7-0 team victory.
