Women's Tennis Falls to No. 32 New Mexico, 6-1

Lubbock, Texas - Texas Tech women's tennis fell to No. 32 New Mexico, in Albuquerque, N.M., on Sunday. The Lady Raiders are now sitting at 4-1 on the season. In doubles play, at No. 1, Tara Browning and Lakann Wagley fell to Kovacek and Gersic, 8-6. At the No. 2 spot, No. 23 Katja Kovacic and Erin Hunter were defeated by Abou-Zekry and Scott, 8-4. At the No. 3 spot, Cigdem Duru and Janet Durham edged Quintal and Ryba, 8-4. In singles action, at No. 1, Browning fell to Kovacek, 6-3, 5-7, 10-6. At No. 2, Duru fell to Gersic, 6-2, 6-3. Durham, at No. 3, fell to Abou-Zekry, 6-0, 6-4. At No. 4, Quintal topped Kovacic, 6-4, 6-3. Tech's only point of the day came from Samantha van der Drift at No. 5 who beat Scott in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Hunter fell to White, 7-5, 6-3, at the No. 6 spot. In other matches played, not affecting the team score, Anne Sophie Fankam and van der Drift defeated Bonner and Davis, 8-4. In singles, Wagley fell to Ryba, 7-6, 6-4, and Fankam was beat by Bonner, 7-6, 6-2.
