On Sunday, February 13 Texas Tech women's tennis team met the University of Northern Arizona in a grudge match at the Paseo Tennis Center in Arizona, losing 5-4. Tech's record fell to 1-5 on the year.

In position No. 2, freshman, Ayako Suzuki defeated Susanna Wallin, 6-3, 6-1. Another highlight came from position No. 3 where freshman, Sonnia Orellana beat Kim Bruno, 6-3, 6-4. Amanda Earhart the lone senior on the squad forced an extra set, but came up short to Vickie Gunnarsson, 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).

In doubles action, Tech won two out of three. In position No. 1 Earhart and Suzuki took care of their opponents winning 8-0. Position No. 3 Orellana and Renee Pereira won their match 8-6.

The women get a few weeks off and then face their first conference opponent, Oklahoma State at the Athletic Training Center (ATC) on Sunday, February 27.
