LUBBOCK, Texas - Lady Raider tennis hit the courts today in full swing as the team rolled over the Colorado State Rams at the Lubbock Country Club. Recovering from an upset in their first conference match against Colorado yesterday, Texas Tech improves their record to 4-3 heading into next weekend's three-match series.

Tech's doubles competition came out strong as all three duos tabbed in wins for their team. Switching things up again, head Coach Cari Groce moved the undefeated pair of Janet Durham and Samantha van der Drift into the No. 1 position. The switch proved beneficial as the two secured the doubles point over Colorado State's Pohjalainen andTyler, 8-2.

"I think it was a good move as it was tough for Anne-Sophie, who didn't play much last season, to move right into the competitive No. 1 doubles spot," said Groce. "Sam and Janet deserved and earned that position, and I am pleased and hope to continue the upward momentum."

Moving on to singles, Tech continued the momentum from doubles winning six consecutive matches. Durham improved her record to 6-1, followed by a win from van der Drift putting her singles record at 5-1. Sophomore Anne Sophie Fankam clinched the match point for her team over the Ram's Greer Satherlie, notching in her second personal singles win this season.

Senior Lakann Wagley played another nail-biting match taking on CSU junior Hilary Tyler. Tyler jumped out with the first set win 6-2, but Wagley emerged in the second with the 6-4 win. Scrapping her way to overcome a 3-5 deficit, Wagley battled back in the third set to win the match 7-5.

Tech leads the series over Colorado State 6-1 as the Ram's fall to 1-3 on the season. The Lady Raiders looked to bounce back after suffering their first conference loss 6-1 to No. 53 Colorado yesterday.

"We had a long talk as a team after last night's match," commented Groce. "We recognized we had to pick it up heading into the upcoming schedule. Our players came out and responded real well in today's matches."

The Lady Raiders return to action next weekend as they host three matches against Air Force, BYU and Middle Tennessee State. For more information and complete results visit www.texastech.com.
