LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech defeats Cal State Northridge in the UNLV Lady Rebel Classic, 6-1. The Lady Raiders get their first spring season victory on the road at the UNLV Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev.

In doubles play the Lady Raiders went undefeated. Tara Browning and Lakann Wagley defeated Silvia Gutierrez and YuYu Myinttun, 8-3 in the number one spot. In the number two position, Cigdem Duru and Janet Durham defeated Canna Furuta and Yasuyo Hashimoto, 9-8. At number three, Erin Hunter and Katja Kovacic teamed up to defeat Sonya Kumar and Kasia Krasinska, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.

At the number one singles spot, Duru defeated Silvia Gutierrez, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, while Durham lost to Canna Furuta, 6-2, 6-1, in position number two. At the number three spot, Tara Browning beat YuYu Myinttun, 6-4, 7-5, and in position number four, Erin Hunter bested Yasuyo Hasimoto, 6-1, 6-3. Katja Kovacic defeated Kasia Krasinska, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, at the number five slot. In the number six position, Lakann Wagley defeated Sonya Kumar, 6-0, 6-3.

Tech will face Northern Arizona at noon tomorrow in the consolation bracket of the UNLV Lady Rebel Classic. The Lady Raiders will head to Manhattan, Kansas Sat., March 5 to face Kansas State at 10 a.m.
