No. 65 Women's Tennis Halts Colorado State, 4-1

Lubbock, Texas - No. 65 Texas Tech women's tennis was victorious over the Rams of Colorado State, 4-1, in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Sunday. The Lady Raiders are currently sitting at 6-4 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 play. At No. 1 doubles, Tara Browning and Lakann Wagley edged Emily Kirchem and Anne Andersen, 8-6. At No. 2, Cigdem Duru and Janet Durham cruised past Carla Pallares and Lauren Strasburger, 8-0. At No. 3, Katja Kovacic and Erin Hunter defeated Jessica Jones and Jasmin Singh, 8-2. In singles action, at No. 1, Browning fell to Kirchem, 6-4, 6-3. Duru topped Andersen at No. 2, 6-4, 1-6, 6-0. At No. 3, Durham edged Strasburger, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6. Wagley played at the No. 4 spot and defeated Pallares, 6-2, 6-4. The No. 5 match between Samantha van der Drift and Jones and the No. 6 match between Anne Sophie Fankam and Singh were not completed.
