Women's Tennis Falls to 48th Ranked Kansas State

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team fell to another Big 12 opponent, Kansas State, today at the Nautilus Fitness Center. The Wildcats won the doubles point and four-of-the-six singles matches to defeat the Red Raiders, 5-2. Tech's two points came in singles play from the No. 5 player, Noel Ruiz and the No. 6 player, Kendall Brooks. Ruiz defeated KSU's Paulina Castillejos in three sets, 7-6(3), 5-7, (10-7). Brooks defeated Wildcat, Andrea Cooper in two sets, 7-5, 6-2. The No. 3 tandem of Alenka Ovin and Kendall Brooks moved to 5-2 on the season, 5-0 in the No. 3 position by defeating KSU's Castillejos and Maria Rosenberg, 8-6. Next, the team will travel north the take on Big 12 opponents, Kansas, in Lawrence, Kan. (March 8), and Missouri, in Columbus, Mo. (March 9). Singles 1. Alena Jecminkova (KSU) def.
