No. 23 Texas Tech Tops No. 64 San Diego
Kenna Kilgo led Texas Tech past San Diego on Tuesday. March 12 ,2013 SAN DIEGO, Calif. – No. 23 Texas Tech picked up its ninth win of the season with a 5-2 win over No. 64 San Diego on Tuesday at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center. After Texas Tech and San Diego split No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, it took a battle at No. 1 doubles to secure the point. The Lady Raiders tandem of No. 47 Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo staved off Stephanie Hoffpauir and Anna Depenau, 9-8. It was Adams and Kilgo’s 12th win of the season. Kilgo picked up the second point at No. 1 singles. Then came wins from Elizabeth Ullathorne over Anna Depenau, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 and Nikki Sanders clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Cara Brown at No. 6 singles. Mata Stojanovic picked up San Diego’s first point of the day at No. 5 singles, as she topped Caroline Starck, 7-6, 6-4. Samantha Adams notched the fifth win of the day for Texas Tech, as she cruised to a 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4) win over Laura Claus at No. 2. Shani Belcher picked up the last point of the day, as she topped Rashmi Teltumbde, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 3 singles. Texas Tech returns to action on Sunday at 10 a.m. against No. 1 North Carolina.
