No. 54 Women's Tennis Cruises Past Hawai'i, 6-1

Lubbock, Texas - No. 54 Texas Tech women's tennis defeated hosting Hawai'i, 6-1, in Honolulu, on Saturday. The Lady Raiders move to 10-4. Tech won the doubles point by sweeping the doubles matches. Tech found victories with Tara Browning and Lakann Wagley at No. 1, Cigdem Duru and Janet Durham at No. 2 and Erin Hunter and Katja Kovacic at No. 3. In singles play, Browning defeated Kana Aiwaka, 1-6, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1. Duru topped Chloe Bihag, 6-0, 6-3, playing at No. 2. At No. 3, Durham edged Erin Katayama, 6-4, 6-3. At No. 4, Wagley took a 6-3, 6-0 win from Jacqueline Williams. At No. 5, Samantha van der Drift was victorious against Samanta Capella, 6-3, 6-0. Anne Sophie Fankam had Tech's only loss of the day at No. 6, 6-3, 1-6, 10-5. The Lady Raiders will face Big 12 opponent Iowa State, Sat. March 25, at 11 a.m., in Ames, Iowa.
