No. 20 Texas Tech Tops UTEP, 7-0|

LUBBOCK, Texas - No. 20 Texas Tech got a wakeup call during doubles, as the Lady Raiders were tested early, woke up and then proceeded to walk away with a 7-0 win over UTEP at the McLeod Tennis Center in the first of two matches on Friday.
It was Texas Tech's 14th straight win at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The Texas Tech doubles tandem of Elizabeth Ullathorne and Caroline Starck had only lost once this season, but never got on track on Friday, as the two seniors fell behind 6-0 before ever winning a game to Marie LeBlond and Gabi Vazquez. The Tech duo lost to the UTEP tandem, 8-1.
Sandra Dynka and Nikki Sanders were down a quick 3-0 at No. 3 doubles to Anastasiya Sylenko and Matlda Rose Tench, but gradualty fought back and won, 8-5 to tie the team score 1-1, with one match remaining.
Texas Tech's nationally-ranked tandem of Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo, who are ranked No. 34, dug a deep hole to Martina Trierweiler and Rebeca Calvillo, trailing 3-0 and 4-1. Suddenly it was 4-4 and then 5-5, before Tech took its first lead at 6-5 and never looked back en route to an 8-6 win.
Kelli Hine added a quick, 6-1, 6-2 win over Sylenko at No. 6, while Ullathorne dispatched LeBond, 6-1, 6-4 to give Texas Tech a commanding 3-0 lead.
The Lady Raiders secured the win, as Kilgo finished up at No. 2 with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Trierweiler and Adams topped Calvillo, 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1.
Starck the notched her 88th career win with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 triumph over Vazquez at No. 4 singles. Starck is the winningest singles player the Lady Raiders have had over the last 25 years.
Dynka closed out the match with a pro set win over Matilda Rose Tench, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
The Red Raider return to action at 6 p.m. tonight as they host Wet Virginia (4-9, 0-2) in Big 12 action at the McLeod Tennis Center.
