LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 20 Texas Tech rank its home court winning streak to 15 straight matches, as the Lady Raiders pulled past West Virginia, 6-1, in Big 12 Conference women’s tennis.
“They are every bit as good as we expected,” said Lady Raider head coach Toddy Petty. “West Virginia is a well coached team and they are solid at the top of their lineup.”
With the win, Texas Tech ran its winning streak at the McLeod Tennis Center to 15 straight matches.
Ike in the morning, where Texas Tech struggled at doubles, this time the Lady Raiders jumped out quickly.
No. 118 Kilgo made easy work of Barrett, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, followed by Sanders who topped Mathis, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 and Tech had the 3-0 lead.
Starck picked up career win No. 90 at No. 5 to extend the Texas Tech lead to 5-0.
Wet Virginia answered with its lone point behind a 6-4, 63 win at No. 1, where Wooland edged Adams.
Ullathorne closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win over Chahal.
Texas Tech returns to action on Sunday, when the No. 20 Lady Raiders will try and remain perfect in Big 12 play on Senior Day at 1 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.
