No. 75 Women's Tennis Upsets No. 56 Colorado, 5-2

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 75 Texas Tech women's tennis team upset No. 56 Colorado, 5-2, at the McLeod Tennis Center on the campus of Texas Tech. The Lady Raiders are now 6-9 for the spring season and 3-3 for conference play. Tech found confidence in its doubles play to compete well in singles action. At number one for doubles, Tara Browning and Lakann Wagley defeated Kendra Strandemo and Jessica Vanderdys, 8-2. In the second slot, Lynzee Kever and Martina Sedivec defaulted when Janet Durham and Cigdem Duru were leading, 6-1. In the last position, Erin Hunter and Katja Kovacic beat Veera Nurmi and Gleesy Torres, 8-2. The Lady Raiders led four of the six single's matches. At number one, Duru defeated Strandemo, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0. Durham came out on top in the second position against Vanderdys, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (9-7). In third place, Nurmi fell to Browning, 6-1, 6-4. At number six, Kovacic handled Jenny Hanson, 6-1, 6-2. "We have confidence in our doubles play," stated assisted coach Kendall Brooks. "I feel like we set the tone early on and didn't look back. We definately pulled off a good win today." The Lady Raiders will play their final home match on Sunday, April 3, when they will face Kansas at 11 a.m.
