Texas Tech Loses To Texas A&M

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 57 Texas Tech women's tennis team fell to No. 37 Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, this afternoon. The Lady Raiders are now 7-11 and 4-5 in conference play. In singles action, Cigdem Duru fell to No. 76 Helga Vieira, 6-4, 6-2, and at postion two, Janet Durham lost to Lauren Walker, 6-0, 6-3. In the third slot, No. 85 Anna Lubinsky defeated Tara Browning, 6-2, 6-0, and Lakann Wagley dropped to Anna Blagodarova at number four, 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (9). In the fifth position, Tiffany Clifford defeated Erin Hunter, 6-4, 6-3. In the last slot, Marisa Druss came out on top against Katja Kovacic, 6-1, 6-4. The Lady Raiders won their No. 1 doubles. No. 26 Wagley and Browning defeated No. 50 Lubinsky and Walker, 8-6. Blagodarova and Clifford teamed up at number two to defeat Duru and Durham, 8-6. In position three, Seva Iwinski and Vieira handled Kovacic and Hunter, 8-4. Texas Tech will wrap up conference matches next weekend. The Lady Raiders will travel to Stillwater, Okla., on Fri., April 15, to face Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. On Sat., April 16, Tech will go to Norman, Okla., to take on No. 55 Oklahoma.
