LUBBOCK, Texas - The women's tennis team suffered their fourth conference loss today at the hands of No. 67 Oklahoma State, 5-2. The Lady Raiders look to rebound as they next face the Oklahoma Sooners on Sunday at noon at the McLeod Tennis Center.

The Cowgirls got the early jump in doubles on the Lady Raiders as they took an 8-1 win at No. 2. Tech's freshmen duo of Kelsy Garland and Simone Templeton battled passed Jessica Collins and Maryna Tkachenko, winning 8-6 and evening the score at one all. Unfortunately the Raider's doubles came up short of the early 1-0 lead at No. 1 as Janet Durham and Samantha van der Drift suffered a 9-7 loss in the tiebreaker to OSU's Sasha Belova and JoAnna Karatiana.

In singles the Lady Raiders came out firing as Garland took down OSU's Yawna Allen in front of a home crowd in straight sets at the No. 2 position. Sophomore Kerryn Potgieter got back into the winning habit as she also took a straight set win at No. 5 over the Cowgirl's Maryna Tkachenko, giving Tech their second and what would prove be their final point of the match.

OSU retaliated by sweeping the next four matches, with Belova topping off the match at No. 4 over Templeton, 6-3, 6-3. In the final match of the day junior van der Drift came back to win the second set 7-4 in the tiebreaker after dropping the first set 6-2 to the Cowgirls' Iryna Tkachenko. Van der Drift couldn't quite find a break as she fell 10-5 in the third set super-tiebreaker.

Sunday's match against the Sooners is "Feed the Fan" day as Schlotsky's will be handing out sandwiches to the first 150 tennis fans. In addition there will be free t-shirts, water bottles and numerous chances at great prizes. For more information and live updates, log on to the women's tennis page at www.texastech.com.
