LUBBOCK, Texas - No. 57 Texas Tech women's tennis improved its record to 13-7, 6-4 in Big 12 with a win over No. 75 Oklahoma (8-14, 2-7). The win was Tech's sixth over the Sooners, with an overall series record of 8-6.

The Lady Raiders opened by capturing the doubles point with wins from the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, Tara Browning and Lakann Wagley, 8-2, and Janet Durham and Cigdem Duru, 8-4. The duo of Erin Hunter and Katja Kovacic just fell short of the third win at the hands of OU's Anne Carter and Monica Purice, 8-6. As a team, Texas Tech now sits at 15-5 in doubles action.

In singles, No. 2 Cigdem Duru shut down OU's Irina Lykina, 6-4, 6-4, quickly followed by No. 5 Erin Hunter 6-3, 6-4. Ahead 3-0, Tech continued to build momentum as senior Katja Kovacic defeated Sooner Anne Carter, 6-1, 7-6, securing the match win for Texas Tech.

Oklahoma's Christi Baxley got her team on the scoreboard with a win over Lakann Wagley, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5. Janet Durham went toe-to-toe with Monica Purice in the No. 3 spot, and emerged victorious 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. After a long, back-and-forth match, No. 1 Tara Browning fell to OU's Gabby Baker in the third set, 6-3, 2-6, 5-7.

The Lady Raiders will be back in action on Sat., April 22, as they host No. 47 Oklahoma State at 11 a.m. This will be the final match of Tech's regular season.
