Women's Tennis Defeats Nebraska at Big 12 Championships|

LINCOLN, Neb. - Texas Tech University's women's tennis team defeated Nebraska 5-4 in the first round of the 1998 Big 12 Conference Women's Tennis Championships Thursday. The Red Raiders advance to the second round at the Woods Tennis Center and will face Texas at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Improving to a 12-10 overall record, Tech used three doubles victories to edge the Huskers. Sweeping the pairs were the teams of Zana Zlebnik-Amanda Earhart at No. 1, Lakshmi Ravindra-Christine Van Regenmorter at No. 2 and Sarada Ravindra-Misty Meyer at No. 3. Tech came from behind at both the No. 2 and No. 3 slots, and rallied to win 9-7 at No. 1 doubles to end the match.
Tech captured just two singles points at No. 1 and No. 5. The No. 58-ranked Zlebnik continued her winning ways, topping the Husker,s Sandra Noetzel 6-3, 6-4 in the top spot to improve to 17-5 on the season. Van Regenmorter took the other nod in No. 5, winning 6-2, 6-3.
The women will play the Longhorns at Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln.
