SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team fell to the Texas Longhorns this afternoon, 7-0, in San Antonio, Texas. Due to inclement weather, the match, originally scheduled to take place in Austin, was moved to the Thousand Oakes Racquet Club in San Antonio. While the Lady Raiders gave it their best and most valiant effort, it would not be enough to stop the 11th-ranked Longhorns. As the Lady Raiders put today's loss behind them, Tech heads into the Big 12 Tournament with a spring record of 11-9 and 4-7 in Big 12 Conference play.

In singles action, Tech was unable to come home with a win losing all six singles matches. No. 103 senior Irina Tereschenko fell to No. 18 Petra Dizdar, 6-3, 6-3, in the first position. In the second spot, senior Kendall Brooks lost to Katie Ruckert, 6-4, 6-1, while sophomore Tara Browning was defeated by Mia Marovis, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6, in the third position. Playing in the fourth spot, freshman Lakann Wagley lost to Kendra Strohm, 6-2, 6-3, while sophomore Katja Kovacic lost to Kelly Baritot, 6-3, 6-4, in the fifth position. Rounding out singles play was freshman Hristiyana Gocheva, who was defeated by Ristine Olson, 6-2, 6-4, in the sixth position.

The Lady Raiders also struggled in the doubles court, losing all three matches. In the first position, Kovacic and Tereschenko were defeated by Ruckert and Strohm, 9-8, while Brooks and Browning lost to Dizdar and Marovic, 8-6, in the second spot. Wagley and Gocheva, playing in the third position, were defeated by Baritot and Olson, 8-3.

Tech heads next to Norman, Okla., for the Big 12 Championships April 28 - May 1.
