Women's Tennis Swept by Texas, 5-0

LINCOLN, Neb. - Texas Tech's women's tennis team concluded the season with a 5-0 loss to Texas Friday in the quarterfinals of the 1998 Big 12 Conference Womens Tennis Championships in Lincoln, Neb. at the Woods Tennis Center. The team ended the season at 12-11 overall.

The Longhorns, who entered as the No. 1 seed in the conference, swept the Red Raiders through the singles. The match was suspended, as Texas secured the victory prior to doubles competition. Texas, the regular season conference champions, move to 20-5 overall after limiting Tech to just two points in both No. 3 and No. 4 singles.

Freshman Zana Zlebnik, ranked No. 58 nationally, fell in three sets to No. 27 Cristina Moros. Zlebniks season record moves to 17-6 as she waits on a bid to attend the NCAA Regionals.

Texas Tech, the No. 8 conference seed, advanced to the second round after coming from behind to defeat Nebraska on Friday.
