LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's freshman Stefanie Peana advanced to the finals of her flight in singles action at the Lobo Invitational held at Albuquerque, N.M.

Peana defeated Stacey Pinchbeck of Northern Arizona 6-2,6-2 in the semi-finals of flight B. She will face Kyla Iwinski of Denver who beat fellow Lady Raider Simone Templeton 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in the other semi-final.

Kerryn Potgieter played in the flight C semi-final but lost to Yumi Hasegawa of Northern Arizona 6-4, 6-4.

Tech was unable to win any doubles matches in the morning session but came back strong winning four matches in the afternoon session. Samantha van der Drift and Kelsy Garland beat Edit Suhajda and Leslie Vial of Northern Arizona 8-5.

The other three wins came from Templeton and Potgieter winning 8-2 over Kim Van Ginkel and Aimee Oki of Northern Arizona. Peana and Natalie Leitch beat Hasegawa and Orsi Golovics of Northern Arizona 8-2 and the final doubles win came from Lindsey Holcomb and Kyla Coleman won 9-8 over Cassie Carver and Sandra Vucic of Abilene Christian.

The Lady Raiders won three single matches in the consolation brackets. Leitch defeated Snadra Walker of Abilene Christian 6-2, 6-2, and Kelsy Garland won 6-2, 6-1 over Kuni Dorn of Kansas. Holcomb was the other win as she beat Kate Goff of Kansas 6-3, 6-3.

The finals of the Lobo Invitational will begin at 9 a.m. local time tomorrow.
