Lady Raiders Shine In Little Rock

Texas Tech's Kenna Kilgo won her match in Flight B Singles on Friday.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – No. 18 Texas Tech had a strong showing on the first day of the Little Rock Classic, as the Lady Raiders won four of five matches at the Country Club of Little Rock on Friday.

Texas Tech’s No. 98 Kenna Kilgo held off Ole Miss’ Marija Milutinovic, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the first round of Flight B, but No. 61 Samantha Adams was not as lucky, as she was upset by Arkansas’ Kimberley-Ann Surin, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 in Flight A.

In Flight C, Sarah Toti upset second-seeded Maria Andrea Cardenas of Houston, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, while highly touted freshman Lynn Kiro cruised past Houston’s Celia Fraser in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles, Kiro and Toti held off Arkansas’ Surin and Flavia Araujo, 6-5 (8-6).
