LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo improved to 3-0 on the season as Texas Tech closed out play at the Little Rock Invitational on Sunday at the Country Club of Little Rock.
Adams, who is ranked No. 76 nationally, ousted Oklahoma’s Abbi Melrose, 6-3, 6-1, while Kilgo toppled OU’d Mia Lancaster, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. Caroline Starch added a 6-3, 6-2 straight-set win over Oklahoma’s Emma Devine.
Double play in Little Rock was canceled due to rain.
At the UNLV Fall Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev., Texas Tech’s doubles tandem of Nikki Sanders and Rashmi Teltumbde fell in the Flight One finals to Auburn’s Pleun Burgmans and Plamena Kurteva, 8-4.
In singles action at UNLV, Sanders won the finals of the Flight Two backdraw with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Long Beach State’s Sarah Cantlay.
Texas Tech returns to action on Sept. 29 at the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships in Los Angeles, Calif., when Adams, Kilgo and Teltumbde return to the court in the invitation only event.
