Tech Sends Two Doubles Tandems To Quarterfinals|

FORT WORTH – Texas Tech’s doubles tandems of Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo and Nikki Sanders and Rashmi Teltumbde advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Texas Regional Championships on Friday at TCU's Freidman Tennis Center.
Adams and Kilgo, who are ranked No. 9 and seeded second, topped the Texas A&M duo of Rutaja Bhosale and Anna Mamalat, 8-4 to move in the quarterfinals. Sanders and Teltumbde cruised past TCU’s Mimi Fotopoulos and Monika Sirilova, 8-1.
In singles, #61 Adams picked up a straight-set win over UT Arlington’s Elizabeth Thoms, 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the Round of 16. Sanders, who is ranked No. 113, also advanced to the Round of 16 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Alex Leatu of Baylor. Kilgo fell short in a three-set marathon to Vaszilisza Bulgakova of SMU, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5.
In the Round of 16, Adams fell to TCU’s No. 30 Stefanie Tan, 7-5, 6-0, while Sanders lost in straight sets to No. 48 Cristina Stancu of Texas A&M, 6-0, 6-0.
Texas Tech’s doubles tandem’s will return to action on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
