Rashmi Teltumbde and Nikki Sanders fell in the doubles final at the ITA Texas Regional on Tuesday.

WACO, Texas – Rashmi Teltumbde and Nikki Sanders’ miraculous doubles run came to an end on Tuesday, as the Texas Tech tandem fell to another unseeded duo in Texas A&M’s Stefania Hristov and Cristina Stancu in the main draw doubles final at the ITA Texas Regional Championships held at the Hurd Tennis Center.

Teltumbde and Sanders rolled to five straight wins to reach the finals, including upending the No. 2, 4 and 6 seeds along the way. Hristov and Stancu upset the tournament’s No. 1 seed of Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo of Texas Tech to reach the finals.

The two teams basically held serve until the Texas A&M squad got a break at 5-3 and went on to secure an 8-5 win on Tuesday.

The duo of Teltumbde and Sanders are now 8-3 on the season as a doubles tandem.
