Texas Tech Struggles At UNM Fall Invitational
Freshman Sofya Malysheva is one of three Lady Raiders competing in Albuquerque, N.M. November 3, 2012 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Texas Tech had a rough second day at the 2012 UNM Fall Invitational at the Linda Estes Tennis Center on Saturday, as the Lady Raiders lost all three singles matches. Freshman Kendall Warren lost in the Black Bracket semifinals to South Carolina’s Kimena Siles, 6-3, 6-4, while Kelli Hine fell to Utah’s Natasha Smith, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 in the Silver Bracket semifinals. The Lady Raiders’ Sofya Malysheva fell in the Cherry Bracket Consolation Semifinals to UTEP’s Rebecca Cavillo, 6-1, 6-4. In doubles, Hine and Malysheva lost in the Cherry Bracket semifinals to Jaklin Alawi and Dominika Kanakova, 8-2. The tandem then fell to New Mexico’s Michaela Bezdikova and Laura Richardson, 8-2. The Lady Raiders will conclude play on Sunday in Albuquerque. Singles
