Texas Tech Completes First Day at Southwest RegionalsZana Zlenik advances through first two roundsAUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team finished the first day of competition at the 1997 ITA Rolex Southwest Regionals today in Austin, Texas. The first two rounds in both singles and doubles action were completed at the tournament, hosted by the University of Texas. For the Red Raiders, Zana Zlebnik moved through the first two rounds, defeating Asa Persson, from New Orleans, and Michelle Faucher of Texas. Zlebnik will continue singles action tomorrow when she plays Brandy Brown, from Arkansas, in the third round. Zlebnik was also part of the doubles team, with sophomore Lakshmi Ravindra, to be defeated in the first round. Texas Tech's Christine Van Regenmorter advanced through the morning's first round, defeating Danielle Lee of Texas A&M 6-3, 6-2, but fell in the second round. Sophomore sisters Lakshmi and Sarada Ravindra also competed in singles action. Sarada Ravindra moved on to round two, defeating Erin Waters of Rice 1-6, 6-4, 7-5, while Lakshmi Ravindra fell in the first round. Tournament action continues tomorrow and runs through the weekend.
