Ullathorne Paces Lady Raiders in Orlando
Elizabeth Ullathorne went 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles at the UCF Invitational. Jan. 16, 2012 ORLANDO, Fla. – Texas Tech’s Elizabeth Ullathorne stayed perfect to start the spring, as the junior completed play at the UCF Invitational with a 3-0 singles and doubles record on Monday. Ullathorne topped Josephine Haraldson of UCF, 6-2, 6-4, to close out single play and then teamed Nikki Sanders to topple Rice’s duo of Daniella Trigo and Kimberely Anicete, 8-3. “I thought we played very hard and competed really well today,” said Lady Raider head coach Todd Petty. “Physically and mentally we broke down a bit in the last doubles though. It wasn't a perfect ending but we can get better from it. Overall, this has been a good start to the spring for our team.” In all, the Lady Raiders won all six singles matches, but took just one of three doubles matches on the last day of the event. In all, Texas Tech went 15-4 in singles action and 6-3 in doubles play at the UCF Invitational. Ullathorne, Caroline Starck and Nikki Sanders were each 3-0 in singles action at the event.
