LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team begins their 2000 campaign with a home match tomorrow against the Abilene Christian Wildcats. The match will be held at the Athletic Training Center on the Texas Tech campus and is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.

The Texas Tech women will be led by senior Amanda Earhart. Last season Earhart played at the team's No. 2 position and finished with an 8-9 overall singles record in dual matches.

It will be the first dual match at Texas Tech for new head coach Virginia Brown. Brown took over the head coaching position in July.

The match will also be the first test of the season for ACU. The Wildcats are coming off of a 1999 season in which they finished with a 20-8 record and won the Lone Star Conference title.

"We're excited and can't wait to go," Brown said. "These early season matches are important for us, helping us get better and see where we need to improve before conference play."
