No. 21 Lady Raiders Square Off With No. 29 Rice In Waco

WACO, Texas – No. 21 Texas Tech will begin play Saturday in the ITA Kickoff Weekend Tournament, when the Lady Raiders face No. 29 Rice at 2 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor University.

No. 15 Baylor, the event's top-seed will open the weekend against No. 36 Florida State on Saturday at 11 a.m. The winners of those two matches will then play on Sunday at 11 a.m. for a spot in the ITA National Indoor Team Championship, Feb. 8-11, in Charlottesville, Va.

Texas Tech is 1-0 on the season after upending Denver on Saturday to open the season.

The Lady Raiders return its entire squad from last season, led by nationally-ranked Samantha Adams. She is joined by seniors Sandra Dynka, Elizabeth Ullathorne and Caroline Starck, juniors Rashmi Teltumbde, Nikki Sanders and Adams and sophomore Kenna Kilgo.

Newcomers to the lineup for Texas Tech include freshmen Sofya Malysheva, Kelli Hine and Kendall Warren.

Adams is currently ranked No. 49 in singles, while the Lady Raider tandem of Teltumbde and Sanders in ranked No. 33.

Texas Tech topped Rice last season, 4-2, marking its first win over the Owls since 1988.
