LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team will travel to Albuquerque this weekend to play a pair of matches against the University of New Mexico and the University of Wyoming.

The Tech women are 0-1 to start the season, coming off a close 5-4 loss to Abilene Christian last week. Amanda Earhart, Ayako Suzuki and Sonnia Orellana all won their singles matches at the No's. 1, 2 and 3 positions respectively. Things won't get easier for Tech. New Mexico (1-3) is currently ranked No. 1 in the ITA central region and No. 27 nationally.

Wyoming enters the weekend with a 0-1 record after losing their first match of the season to Utah.

The series record between Texas Tech and New Mexico stands at 8-5 in Tech's favor. The last meeting between the two schools was in 1996 with the Lobos winning by a score of 6-3. It will be the first ever meeting between Wyoming and the Red Raiders.

The women play New Mexico Saturday evening at 5 o'clock on the courts of the Lobo Tennis Club, then play Wyoming on Sunday, February 5 at noon.
