Lady Raider Tennis Climbs To No. 42 In ITA Rankings




The Lady Raiders jumped three spots to No. 42 in this week's ITA Tennis Rankings.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech has climbed three spots again this week to No. 42 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association tennis rankings.

When the spring began, the Lady Raiders opened the season at No. 48, the school's highest preseason ranking ever. Two rankings in the season, Texas Tech has climbed six spots.

"Anytime your team has the opportunity to be recognized, it is a good for your program," said Lady Raider head coach Todd Petty. "But there is still a lot of season left and we still have a lot of goals we are looking to accomplish."

Texas Tech returns to action on Saturday, when the No. 45 Lady Raiders host No. 23 Ole Miss at 5 p.m. at the Lubbock Country Club.

It is Texas Tech's highest ranking since being 41st the week of Apr. 19 last year.

Other Big 12 teams in the rankings are - No. 5 Baylor, No. 12 Texas, No. 30 Texas A&M, No. 31 Oklahoma, No. 53 Kansas State.
