DENVER, Colo. – With its newly christened No. 34 national ranking in place, the Texas Tech Lady Raider tennis team will look to keep its winning ways alive as it faces the University of Denver at the Denver Country Club on Friday at 5 p.m.
Denver (5-2) is the first opponent Texas Tech has faced that was not nationally ranked since the season opener against UTEP. The Lady Raiders are 5-1 on the season and have faced five ranked opponents.
“We have to stay focused and not get ahead of ourselves on the court,” said Lady Raider head coach Todd Petty. “We have the opportunity to have a special season, but we are only as good as our next match. Right now we have to focus on Denver, because they are a good team.”
The Lady Raiders also feature the No. 57 doubles tandem of Kilgo and Samantha Adams. The duo is 11-4 on the season and has recorded a pair of marquee wins over nationally-ranked doubles teams from both Rice and Nebraska.
Stark and Sanders will secure the No. 2 doubles position. The pair are 7-5 on the season. Elizabeth Ullathorne and Teltumbde are 7-0 as a doubles team this season and will secure the No. 3 spot.
