Golden Eagles Top Tech March 17, 1999 HATTIESBURG, Mississippi - Playing their first road of match of the season, the Texas Tech women's tennis team came up on the short end of a 6-3 score Wednesday against the University of Southern Mississippi. The loss drops Tech to 4-8 overall (2-4 in Big 12). The Red Raiders started out well, winning the first two singles matches of the day. But those would be the only singles victories for Tech. Sophomore Alenka Ovin won for the third consecutive time at No. 2 singles defeating Caroline Weems 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. Her overall record stands at 8-4. The other singles victory came from No. 1 player Zana Zlebnik who beat Tina Rautajoki 7-5, 6-4 improving her mark on the season to 7-5. Ovin and Zlebnik also teamed up at No. 1 doubles to defeat USM's Shawny Price and Patricia Kundisova 8-3. It was their second doubles victory of the season. The Red Raiders will be in action again Thursday, March 18 at the University of New Orleans. No start time has been announced. Singles: Doubles:
