No. 50 Women's Tennis Returns to Lubbock for Big 12 Match Ups
March 29, 2006 Lubbock, Texas - After a grueling six-week road trip, No. 50 Texas Tech women's tennis will return to Lubbock and McLeod Tennis Center this weekend to host Texas A&M, Fri., March 31, at 5 p.m., and Baylor, Sat., April 1, at 12 p.m. The Lady Raiders are currently sitting at 12-4 overall and 5-1 in Big 12 action. The squad has won six straight matches and seven of their last eight contests. They are currently fourth in the Big 12 and No. 50 in the ITA poll. Cigdem Duru is leading the Lady Raiders in singles play with a record of 12-3 overall and 5-1 in Big 12 action. Duru has also won 10 of her last 11 matches. Erin Hunter and Katja Kovacic have posted a doubles record of 11-4 overall and 5-1 in Big 12 play. The No. 9 Baylor Bears are leading the Big 12 at 15-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play. The Green and Gold lead the series with Tech, 13-10. The Bears, led by No. 8 Zuzana Zemenova with a singles record of 13-5, have won nine of their last 10 contests. The No. 51 Aggies of Texas A&M are third in the conference at 7-8 overall and 3-0 in the Big 12. The Maroon and White lead the series with the Lady Raiders, 25-2.
