Women's Tennis Concludes Regular Season Strong
April 22, 2005 LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 65 Texas Tech women's tennis team wrapped up their regular season with a win against Prairie View A&M, 7-0, at the McLeod Tennis Center on the campus of Texas Tech. The Lady Raiders improve their overall record to 9-12 and 6-6 in Big 12. The Lady Raiders only dropped three games in the enitre match. In singles action, Janet Durham prevailed at number one against Marika Dawkins, 6-2, 6-0. Tara Browning was a straight set winner at the number two position, earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Majors. At the number three singles position, Lakann Wagley defeated Michele Scurry, 6-0, 6-1, while Erin Hunter came out on top at number four against Shannon McCleary, 6-0, 6-0. Amadine Ferot stood out at number five against Gavces, 6-0, 6-0. Tech stood out in doubles action against Prairie View A&M sweeping both number one and two doubles matches. Wagley and Browning teamed up at number one to defeated Dawkins and Majors, 8-0, while at number two Cigdem Duru and Durham beat Scurry and McCleary, 8-0. The Lady Raiders will head to Austin, Texas for the Big 12 Tournament, Thurs., April 28.
