Tennis Names Two to All-Big 12 Singles

Lubbock, Texas - Junior Dimitrio Martinez and senior Tara Browning were named to the All-Big 12 tennis singles first-team for the first time in their careers, it was announced by the conference today. The doubles pairing of Browning and Lakann Wagley was named to the All-Big 12 tennis doubles team for the second time in their careers.
Martinez played at the No. 2 spot for the men's squad that went 13-11 and 2-5 in Big 12 play. The squad lost a 4-3 heartbreaker to No. 25 Colorado in the opening round of the Big 12 Championships. Martinez posted an individual season record of 13-6 and 4-3 in Big 12 play.
Browning played at the No. 1 spot for the women's squad that went 14-8 and 7-5 in Big 12 play. The squad fell to No. 41 Nebraska in the opening round of the Big 12 Championships, 4-0. Browning posted an individual season record of 9-12 and 4-8 in Big 12 play.
The doubles pair of Browning and Wagley is being honored for the second time in two seasons. The duo compiled a season record of 11-8 and 7-4 in Big 12 play.
The men's team, currently ranked No. 48 by ITA, and the women's squad, currently ranked No. 50 by the ITA, will know the fate of their NCAA Championships future when the selection show airs on ESPN News at 8:30 p.m. EST, Wed. May 3.
