INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo have been selected by the NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Subcommittee as one of the 32 doubles tandems to participate in the 2012 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championships.

The doubles competition will be conducted May 23-28 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., following the conclusion of the team championship (May 17-22). The University of Georgia will serve as host. All matches shall be the best of three sets. Regular scoring and a 12-point tiebreaker at six games all will be used for all matches.

This marks just the second time that an individual tandem from Texas Tech has advanced to the NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championships. The Lady Raiders’ Annemarie Walson and Paula Brigance advanced to the 1988 doubles championship in Los Angeles.

Adams and Kilgo, who are ranked No. 28 nationally, are one of 32 squads in the event and one of four duos from the Big 12 Conference. The Texas Tech duo are 25-7 on the season, including 8-1 against ranked opponents, and have won nine of their last 10 matches.

Before Adams and Kilgo participate in the NCAA individual doubles championships, the pair looks to lead Texas Tech to its first NCAA berth. The Lady Raiders open play in the 2012 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championships in Coral Gables, Fla., on May 11 at 9 a.m. CT against No. 39 Utah.
