CORAL GABLES, Fla. - In their first trip to the NCAA tournament the No. 21-ranked Lady Raiders Tennis team fell to No. 37 Utah at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Miami.

The squad jumped out to a 1-0 lead on the strength of its doubles teams, earning wins at Nos. 2 and 3, Caroline Starck and Nikki Sanders and Elizabeth Ullathorne and Rashmi Teltumbde. The No. 1 team of Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo did not finish once the doubles point had been secured for Tech.

No. 117 Samantha Adams and Nikki Sanders each cruised to straight-set wins, setting Texas Tech up at 3-0 early on. But Utah's wins at No. 1, 3 and 4 set up a rematch for the win at the No. 5 singles match up.

Lucia Kovarcikova out-battled Kilgo in a three-set contest, as she had done in February when these two squads met during tournament play in Las Vegas during the regular season.

The loss ends the team portion of Tech's play for the season. However, individual performers Samantha Adams/Kenna Kilgo ranked No. 19 in doubles will advance later this month to the NCAA Individual Championships.
